Seminar report on Strategies for Dynamic, Effective and Development-Oriented Foreign Policy

The Association of Former Career Ambassadors of Nepal (AFCAN), the Association of Former Nepali Ambassadors (AFNA), and the Forum of Former International Professionals of Multilateral Organizations (FIPMO) jointly organized a half-day seminar titled “Strategies for a Dynamic, Effective, and Development-Oriented Foreign Policy” on May 7th, 2024. The seminar featured the illustrious presence of Dr. Bhekh Bahadur Thapa, who was also the keynote speaker. Ambassador Dr. Shambhu Ram Simkhada and Prof. Dr. Meena Vaidhya Malla served as key commentators on the keynote speech presented by Dr. Thapa.

Project Concept Second Phase of Self-help Repair and Maintenance Program of Shelter for Chepang Families with Home-based Gainful Activities Technically supported by Keshar Agro-Farm, Gorsadhi, Nawalpur

This project concept outlines the second phase of FIPMO’s self-help shelter repair and livelihood support programme for Chepang families in Ramirang Danda, Chitwan. The initiative focuses on goat-based home livelihoods, community training, technical support from Keshar Agro-Farm, and a revolving model to gradually extend support to other vulnerable families.

Interim Report on Self-help Repair and Maintenance Project for Chepangs

This interim report outlines the initiation of the FIPMO Self-help Shelter Repair and Maintenance Project for Chepang families, one of Nepal’s most marginalized communities. The field mission (24–28 December 2020) focused on distributing construction materials and winterization support. Despite logistical challenges due to difficult road conditions, all materials—including corrugated sheets, nails, tools, and blankets—were successfully delivered and acknowledged by beneficiaries in Kali Chaur, Ramirang Danda. The project’s first phase has been initiated, with beneficiaries committed to completing house repairs within the stipulated timeframe. While planned support from external agencies such as WFP, WaterAid, and UNHCR was not secured, procurement efficiencies resulted in significant budget savings. The remaining funds (Rs. 308,192) are proposed for use in the second phase of the project, subject to donor approval.

Report on Interaction on Development Vision Nepal 2030

The main objective of FIPMO is to provide a forum for members to channel their experience and expertise for the benefit of Nepal and its people by means of both supportive and advocacy roles. The secondary objective is to create a network to communicate on matters relevant to the experience of members in various countries in their respective fields. Within the purview of these objectives one of the four main activities that FIPMO has put forward in its strategic work plan is to invite prominent personalities as guest speakers on matters of topical interest relevant to the development and relief activities in Nepal as well as burning new issues as they emerge and as they would be relevant contextually. In light of above, since its establishment in 2014, FIPMO has been organizing interaction programs on real time issues and themes. FIPMO is committed to contribute its experience and expertise voluntarily in favor of the development of Nepal. By meeting the sustainable development goals, Nepal aspires to become a middle-income country by 2030. Since a strategic roadmap is being envisioned by the government and since the same could be of intellectual interest for FIPMO members to learn about how the vision is being conceptualized, after consultation and agreement with the Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission FIPMO decided to organize an interaction program on Nepal development vision 2030 that took place on 12 September 2017.
