Meeting with Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balendra Shah

A delegation of FIPMO members led by Chairman Bhai Raja Panday met with the leadership of Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) on 3 July 2022 to introduce FIPMO, its objectives and activities, and explore opportunities for collaboration.

The delegation discussed FIPMO’s interest in extending its professional expertise to areas where the needs of the municipality and the experience of FIPMO members could align. Potential areas of support included planning and management, improved governance, training, water and sanitation, public health, disaster relief and recovery, monitoring and evaluation, gender equity, and grassroots development.

The FIPMO team also met with Deputy Mayor Ms. Sunita Dangol, who welcomed FIPMO’s initiative and expressed interest in the concept of “Silver Volunteering” and the possibility of collaboration with FIPMO.

The meetings concluded with an understanding that FIPMO would provide KMC with a list of relevant experts and that follow-up discussions would be held to explore potential areas of cooperation.
