Daplung Community Livelihood and Revolving Fund Project: From Recovery to Resilience

On 26 July 2026, during FIPMO’s Second Quarterly Meeting, an update was presented on the Daplung Community Livelihood and Revolving Fund Project in Lalitpur District. The initiative was established following the 2015 earthquake to support affected communities in moving beyond physical reconstruction towards self-reliance, dignity and community resilience.

FIPMO members contributed NPR 320,000, which was allocated equally among four self-managed women’s groups. Through the revolving fund, 32 women accessed small loans for livestock, farming, poultry and micro-enterprises. Loan repayments are recycled within the groups, allowing the fund to continue supporting members without repeated external financing. Reported outcomes included improved household income and financial resilience, increased confidence and leadership among women, and greater participation in household and community decision-making.

The discussion also identified priorities for strengthening and potentially replicating the initiative, including additional resource mobilization, skills and financial-management training, improved market linkages, stronger engagement with local government, and systematic documentation of the project’s financial and social outcomes. FIPMO emphasized that any future replication should build on documented lessons and provide the necessary technical and community support.
