Daplung Community Livelihood and Revolving Fund Project

On 6 Baishakh 2074, Forum of Former International Professionals of Multilateral Organizations (FIPMO), Nepal handed over NRs 320,000 to started-up a revolving fund project in Daplung village, Ward No. 7 of Lele Village Committee, Lalitpur. Four checks of NRs.80,000 were handed to chairs of four groups of eight ladies, in a small function attended by FIPMO members, participating ladies, representative of Sri Shatya Sai Center Patan, as well as few other supporters from the village in the Community Hall.

 The thirty-two ladies represent as many houses in the village that were constructed with the assistance of Sri Shatya Sai Center Patan in the aftermath of the earthquake that destroyed their houses. Mostly Nagarkotis (Janajati), with some Brahmins, Chhetries, and Tamangs, live in the village.

 A FIPMO member, Dr. Surendra Panday, who was also associated with the housing project supported by Sri Shatya Sai Centre, facilitated the linkage with FIPMO with an objective of providing the villagers with financial resource as well as the expertise of FIPMO members.  The project model is a revolving fund project where the beneficiaries make decision by themselves on what type of income home based income generation activities they would prefer to pursue individually.  FIPMO members will provide volunteer support to the village women towards  uplifting their status in terms of working as a group, managing their home based income generating activities chosen by themselves, enabling them to engage in  decision making, building confidence, belonging to and supporting the community, being aware of and following financial discipline, and earning some income for them by themselves as Pewa Dhan.

 The women were very happy, enthusistic and determined to make the project a success and return the support fund to FIPMO after its use for using the same to support needy in some other areas.
