41 years of service with Nepal government and UN, dedicated to promoting human rights, gender equality and empowerment of women and girls. Equipped with knowledge, expertise, experience and exposure to provide both technical and managerial leadership in the field of gender equality, women’s empowerment and inclusion issues. Empirical and theoretical knowledge on engendering the national policy/plans; gender mainstreaming in development planning and implementation and in national accounting system. Extensive experience in leading programmes/initiatives on anti-trafficking, migration, political empowerment and gender justice; and in national level community development programmes focusing on psycho- social and economic well-being especially of women and children.
Experience
41 years of service with the government of Nepal and UN Agency, dedicated to promoting and protecting human rights, gender equality and empowerment of women and the girl child. Served the government through various positions for one and half decade- this included tenure at the Ministry of Panchayat and Local Development; National Planning Commission as Gender Advisor in engendering the national plans; and Advisor at the Ministry of Women, Children and Social Welfare at its inception phase, providing guidance and technical expertise on promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment. In the interim, was an integral part of the women’s movement of Nepal. Two and half decades of experience with UNIFEM/UN Women at senior management Country level (Nepal, Pakistan and Liberia) providing strategic guidance and vision, and was responsible for representation, management, planning, programme formulation, implementation and monitoring, inter agency coordination, partnerships and resource mobilization. Extensive experience in national level community development programmes focusing on economic and psycho-social well-being of women and children. Have provided technical expertise to the South Asian governments (Sri Lanka, Maldives and Bhutan), bi-lateral and UN agencies especially on gender mainstreaming in development planning and implementation, gender responsive budgeting and national accounting system. Possess knowledge, expertise and the experience to provide both technical and managerial leadership in the field of gender equality, empowerment and inclusion issues.
